Mother of Sharif brothers passes away in UK

Mother of Sharif brothers (Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif) passed away in  London, UK on sunday morning.

Begum Shamim Akhter was ninety three years old and ill from several months before her death. She had developed a severe chest infection and was suffering from an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Her funeral prayers will be offered in UK and Pakistan while she will be laid to rest in their family graveyard in Lahore.

PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will not be able to accompany his mother’s body to Pakistan, ex-finance minister Ishaq Dar stated on Sunday. He said that Nawaz Sharif has been advised by doctors not to travel because of his ailing health.

According to government officials, Mian Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz are in jail but will be allowed to attend the funeral and meet the family.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, federal ministers and leaders of various political parties have expressed profound grief over the death of Shamim Bibi.
