SBCA delcares dozens of buildings dangerous
Sindh Building Control Authority (SBA) has issued a report on the damaged buildings in the metropolis and has submitted it to Commissioner Karachi.
According to the report, there are currently 422 damaged buildings across the city, of which 273 are located in Saddar Town. Seventy of these buildings are in Liaquatabad Town.
Notices have been issued to all the owners while several of the them have already been vacated.
However, those residing in unsafe buildings have asked for alternative accommodation, the authority said in its report.
SBCA also shared that according to a document from the SBCA, the ground-plus-five storey residential building was declared dangerous and unstable back on March 18. Notices were all issued to all residents, as well as the owners of all the flats, and were instructed to evacuate within 15 days. Along with this SBCA had also written letters to relevant authorities to disconnect the electricity, gas, and water supplies.
