NA passes bill seeking more seats for tribal areas

The National Assembly passed the 26th Constitution Amendment Bill on Monday seeking an increase in the number of seats for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in the National Assembly and Khyber Pakhtun Khwa Assembly.

The National Assembly passed the 26th Constitution Amendment Bill on Monday seeking an increase in the number of seats for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in the National Assembly and Khyber Pakhtun Khwa Assembly.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his joy on the floor of the assembly when he spoke over the consensus between all parties on recommendations for the bill. He said FATA people have been living a difficult life and this bill will explain that they are as Pakistani as everyone else living in the country.

The bill had been introduced by an independent law maker from the tribal areas, Mohsin Dawar. The bill aimed for an increase in the number of FATA seats from six to twelve in the NA and from 16 to 24 in KPK Assembly.
