More than 50 lives lost in accidents during eid holidays, mainly over speeding
Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences received well over 7,500 patients at its emergency departments between ‘Chand raat’ and third day of Eid-ul-Fitr of which around 400 were victims of road traffic accidents.
Well over 400 road traffic accident victims were treated in emergency at PIMS from ‘Chand raat’ to third day of Eid, most of which were discharged after first aid treatment or plaster bandage. Few of the cases, however, were of serious nature and had to undergo surgical procedures.
At least 23 people, including women and children, were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. And over 3,000, most of them young bikers, were injured in Karachi.
A large number of traffic accidents were reported in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Bahawalpur and Kasur.
