Pakistan wins against Afghanistan
Pakistan beat Afghanistan in one of the most thrilling encounters of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, after the Men in Green chased down the 228 runs target by three wickets and two balls to spare at Headingley, Leeds on Saturday.
Imad Wasim scored the winning runs for Pakistan with a boundary, as the all rounder scored an unbeaten knock of 49 runs guiding Pakistan to victory in a must win match.
Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman was lbw on naught of Mujeeb ur Rehman delivery in the first over of the game. Mujeeb ur Rehman struck claiming the fourth wicket of Mohammad Hafeez, who got caught by Hasmatullah Shahidi on 19.
Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first against Pakistan.
“We wanted to bat first as well but toss is not in our hands. Our bowlers are doing well, so we’ll try to restrict them and chase the target. We are focusing on this match, not focusing on the next game,” said skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.
