41 reported killed after Russian passenger plane crash-lands in Moscow
A Russian plane fires at Moscow airport killing 41 passengers in the incident. Causes of the fire cannot be confirmed yet. Although technical fault or an error from pilot is suspected. It is also said that lightning struck the plane after takeoff.
The plane was flying to the Arctic City of Murmansk, when it released a distress call after takeoff. It returned back to Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow and during an emergency landing the plane’s tail was engulfed by the fire, killing 41 people which included 2 children as well.
The jet had 73 passengers and 5 crew members. The survivors later said the plane was struck by lightning, whereas the Russian government announced that it returned back to the airport for technical issues. Also a dramatic video from the inside of the plane showed passengers using emergency exit slides while the jet was engulfed by fire.
However the Russian president offered his condolences to the families of the Victims.
